On April 19th, K9 Ambassador Rico Cosby and staff members Indre, Anne, Eden, and Niki of the Marshall Legacy Institute attended Mine Awareness Day on the Hill 2023. The UXO/Demining exhibition and reception was a wonderful opportunity for organizations to come together with representatives of Congress to showcase the work that has been done in the areas of landmine removal, survivor support, and explosive ordnance mine risk education.
The event was hosted by the UXO Demining Caucus and coordinated by The HALO Trust. U.S. Congressman Bill Johnson and US Representative Chrissy Houlahan, Co-Chairs of the UXO/Demining Caucus, were among the speakers for the event. Jessica Lewis, Assistant Secretary of State for the Political-Military Affairs Bureau and Sean Burke, Director of the U.S. DOD Humanitarian Demining R & D Program were also speakers at the event.
K9 Ambassador Rico was a highlight of the evening, as he received many pets, photo opportunities and thanks for the work he performed in Bosnia-Herzegovina. There were many wonderful organizations at the event, and by working with MLI towards a better and safer world.
